Parents In Community Action, Inc. (PICA) is a private, nonprofit agency designated by the federal government to operate Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Minnesota. PICA serves over 2,600 children and families and offers a variety of programs and services.
PICA is currently seeking Early Head Start Teachers.
Job Title: Early Head Start Teacher
Exempt
Job Summary: The Early Head Start Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating child development experiences for the enrolled children. This position operates a safe, diverse and developmentally appropriate classroom in accordance with all applicable requirements.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
•Full-time, year-round position.
•Direct Assistant(s)/Aide(s) in their interaction with children and provision of curriculum.
•Involve parents in all aspects of the program and promote parent involvement.
•Ensure compliance with state and federal licensing requirements for Early Head Start.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
•Must have Infant Toddler CDA or an AA in Early Childhood Education.
•Strong communication, record-keeping, writing, and computer skills.
•Experience working in and knowledge of early childhood development.
•Ability to work with individuals from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
•MUST have a valid driver’s license.
•Interest in working with young children and their families.
•Ability to maintain confidentiality, especially regarding sensitive child and family information.
•This position requires repetitive physical activity, including standing and/or walking for extended periods of time, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting on the floor, and the ability to lift and safely carry at least 50 pounds.
Starting Salary: $24.56-28.66/HR.
Supervised by: Center Director /Center Supervisor
